REVIEW

A year after the events of the first movie, a new expedition captures Gill-Man and bring him to an aquatic attraction for study, but is also used as a tourist attraction. Gill-Man develops an attachment to one of the female scientists and he eventually escapes and captures her. But she’s saved and Gill-Man is shot once again.

The sequel is not quite as good as the first one, but it does have some charm. The first two acts are pretty slow and focus more on the scientific part of Gill-Man. It’s only around the time that he escapes is when it feels like a regular 50s monster movie. Other than that, there’s really nothing new added to the series as a whole. It’s really just the plot of the first movie just in a different location.

I will give it credit that this was the first time I actually felt sorry for Gill-Man. Being forcibly taken from his home, put into a small tank and chained down so that he can’t escape, ALL in the name of SCIENCE! I find myself actually rooting for him. It sort of reminds me of Free Willy.

Revenge of the Creature is just a generic monster movie.
